When I first joined EMUGs, it was a year-old movement: passionate, fast-growing and leadership was entirely volunteer-led.

There was huge demand and a clear mission, but no strategy, no governance and fragile operations.

Admin staff were burning out, work was being duplicated and there was no clear pathway for funding or structure.

In a fractional Strategy & Leadership role, I:

  • Led the development of a clear strategy and shared priorities

  • Helped recruit a board and establish basic governance

  • Centralised operations and designed structures for a growing volunteer community

  • Coached the founder through the transition to the next phase of growth
